I am fascinated by photography. I love the many elegant and simple way photography allows you to present life to others.
This picture of a tree who has lost its bark was taken just down the street from my house. The way the fluorescent light from the lamppost, directly behind my camera when I captured the image, makes it one of my favorite captures I have ever composed. It was taken at about 11:30 at night with a shutter speed of 30 seconds (not to mention that it was only 15 degrees outside. Brrr).
This was taken on my phone at the top of the lead wall of my local climbing gym.
Well, that's the story. I like to do a lot of stuff (read more about me here), but photography and rock climbing probably take the first and second seats. Photography allows me to share what I see through my eyes and gives me complete control over the way an image turns out. I love the way rock climbing allows you to move freely and the thrill of reaching the top of the wall. The adrenaline rush that is your reward for a sketchy fall is like nothing else in the world. Climbing offers a mix of calm and relaxation with adrenaline. What's not to love? The shoes, you say? Perhaps. My feet are forever disfigured from them, but climbing is well worth it.
I'm also a huge fan of literature. It is incredible to me how one person's ideas can captivate an entire nation. Susan Collins, I'm looking at you. I also love the feeling of holding an instrument in my hands and composing something beautiful. That's where Calligraphy comes in. But that's for a future post.
What do you love to do? What is your obsession that awaits you after a long day of work/school? I think that creative obsessions, some refer to these as hobbies, have the potential to drastically improve your life. If there is something interesting and entertaining waiting for you after a long day, life's okay. I've found mine. What's yours?
